When you connect to the TechToKnow IRC Network, you agree to the following rules. If you break any of the following rules, you may find yourself banned from the TechToKnow IRC network and all our other services. If you do not agree, simply disconnect from the network and website and do not reconnect.
Open proxies are not allowed on the TechToKnow network. When you connect to TechToKnow IRC and/or Website, your connection will be port scanned for open—and potentially insecure—proxies. This is not an attack on your computer and will only happen when you connect.
TechToKnow prohibits the following on its network:
- Harassment
- You may not use any text or action that harasses another user, which includes text or actions that are intended to annoy, offend, or intimidate.
- Do not send Private Messages, Notices, and or CTCP requests to a user without his or her permission.
- Do not send messages to all channels (/AMSG’s or /AME’s) that are intended to annoy or intimidate another user (or other users).
- Creating a Hostile Environment for Minors
- You may not share personal information with a minor.
- You may not share sexually explicit material with a minor.
- Evade A Ban
- If you are banned from a channel or the TechToKnow network, do not attempt to reconnect, not even to see if you are still banned. If you are banned and reconnect, your action is considered ban evasion. See Ban Appeals for more information.
- If you repeatedly evade a ban (or bans), you will be permanently banned from the TechToKnow network and your Internet Service Provider will be contacted.
- Spamming
- Spamming is strictly prohibited on TechToKnow. Spamming includes, Flooding Room(s) and/or User(s) with links to get them to go to a site.

- Illegal Activities of any Kind
- The rules of the offline world do apply to the online world, and all illegal activities are prohibited on the TechToKnow network.
- Illegal behavior includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- File sharing* of copyrighted or protected content.
- Distribution of child porn.
- Hacking or Cracking.
- Attempting to Exploit another user or computer.
- Credit Card fraud or trading.
- Bot Net or spam bot control channels.
- Non-Friendly Bots
- We welcome friendly bots on the TechToKnow network, providing they do NOT do the following:
- Enter a channel without the permission of the channel owner.
- Kick or ban TechToKnow IRC Staff.
- Flood the network or channel.
- Log channels for 3rd parties with out the channel owner’s permission.
- Advertise for 3rd parties with out the channel owner’s permission.
- Attempt to share or host files.
- Attempt to send harmful material, such as a virus or Trojan horse.
- Kick for ‘abusing desync’. See Eggdrop manual for more information.
- We welcome friendly bots on the TechToKnow network, providing they do NOT do the following:
- Infringement of Privacy or Copyright
- Copyright and privacy infringement are strictly prohibited. Details of users found infringing copyright will be passed to our legal team, without fail.
- Copyright and privacy infringement includes, but is not limited to:
- Unauthorized posting of channel logs to the web or other mediums.
- Distributing TechToKnow.net content, including but not limited to that of the website and forums, through unauthorized mediums.
Always follow the directions of TechToKnow staff. The network staff has final determination on all matters relating to the network. If a TechToKnow staff member asks you to do something and you refuse, your action does constitute a breach of these rules.
