Channel Mods:

When choosing a channel operator on the TechToKnow IRC network you should be extremely cautious. It's important to make sure that the user is respectful, trustworthy, and responsible. Having some type of background information about the person may also help while deciding on a channel moderator. If you are unsure that someone is able to handle such a responsibility it's most likely not best to put them in such a position.

Signs of a good potential moderator include:

  • Appropriate language
  • Organization
  • Well manners
  • Good behavior
  • A great attitude

The person should also have the knowledge of most, if not all, of the available channel modes and commands. They should know how to set and unset channel modes as well.

Signs of a bad potential moderator include:

  • Misbehavior
  • Constant kicks/bans
  • Evading bans
  • Disrespectfulness
  • Explicit language
  • Rudeness
  • Disobedience
  • Asking for ops

After you have chosen a group of persistent moderators you may want to monitor their actions and how they handle situations (such as channel bans, channel modes, behavior, and attitude) for a few days. Many people have been kicked and banned from their own channels when they do not correctly choose a moderator. If you are banned just /cs unban <#channel> Then Remove there Status.
